Community-First Leadership
Brady Kerkman is happily married for 20 years to his loving wife, Maria. They have one son, Dimitri, who attends Harrisburg High School. Brady graduated from Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD, with a Bachelor of Arts degree emphasizing psychology and sociology. He earned his Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Grand View University in Des Moines, IA. With over 30 years of experience in leadership roles spanning corrections, disability rights, healthcare, business development, fundraising, and professional consulting, he is well-equipped to contribute to community leadership initiatives.
Known as the “guy next door,” Brady never meets a stranger twice. He enjoys building lasting relationships and is often noted for saying, “the best leaders are those who surround themselves with greater talent.” He believes we learn and evolve best through the people we connect with.
Brady brings a solid foundation in community leadership through relationships focused on listening, trust, and mutual respect. He has a proven track record of leading by example and working collaboratively to achieve what’s best for the individuals and communities he serves. He understands that there is no one-size-fits-all solution, and the best outcomes arise from open communication.
In his spare time, Brady enjoys spending time with his family and their two French bulldogs, Giada and Giulio. He actively participates in his son’s school events and is engaged in his community. Additionally, Brady enjoys working in his yard, tackling home projects, and traveling. He attends Holy Spirit Catholic Church and is a 4th Degree Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, focusing on leading, promoting, and organizing charity and unity, which aligns with his commitment to community leadership and service to the Sioux Falls City Council.
Why I'm Running
I’m running for the Sioux Falls City Council because I believe:
Local government should work for the people,
Families deserve safe neighborhoods,
Growth should be planned, not reactive,
Our best days are ahead of us.
This vision for community leadership is about the future we’re building for our kids and grandkids.
